In a telephone interview with Claudia Rosett of the
Wall Street Journal, the recently released dissident Dr. Nguyen Dan Que, 63, urged the Vietnamese Communist Party to set a timetable for free elections in the country. While describing his release as being “transferred from a smaller prison to a bigger one,” he nevertheless expressed hope of a democratic future, because “The world is changing. There are more opportunities than ever.” (
Wall Street Journal, March 9).
